Message for November 8, 2025: Children as instrument of God

Message topic: Children as instrument of God

 Scripture: Jeremiah 1:1-10

The subject of our sharing today is God using children as messengers: in this country like many others, I do believe that there are labor or work laws at what age one can be in service of another: with God there are no such laws, therefore He can used any one, no matter size, age, or condition.

Listen to these words of Jeremiah when he was first called by God, the word of the Lord came unto me saying, before I formed thee in the belly, I know thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Then said I, Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the Lord said unto me, say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with, saith the Lord.

Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth, and said unto me, behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. See, I have this day set  thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

God had a friend whose name he changed from Abram, to Abraham, and made him this promise, that one day his descendants would be  great in a land that is not theirs, and they would be treated harshly, but he would deliver them and set them free and make them great.

The King of the land in they are living plans to reduce their number by killing all the male children when they are born.

There was a woman by the name of Jochebed, a Godly woman and she had a male child whom she was able to hide for three months, when she could no longer hide him, she made  him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child inside and laid it by the side of the river, while his sister stood afar off to see what would be done to him.

Then the daughter of the King came  down to wash herself at the river; with her maidens, and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to the fetch it.

When she opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the baby wept, and she had compassion on him, and said, this is one of the Hebrews children. Then came his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter and said, shall I go and call   to thee a nurse of the Hebrew woman, that she may nurse the child for thee?

Then Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, go. And the maid went and called the child’s mother. Then Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, take this child away and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages, and the woman took the child, and nursed him, the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son: and she called his name Moses: because I drew him out of the water

God knew that the plan that He has for His people needed someone who was wise, strong, brave, and who had faith in the God of Abraham rather than the gods which were made by man’s hands.

God is wise, faithful and His love for mankind is beyond what mankind can ever understand, so He wanted someone like Moses who would trust Him and be faithful to be obedient to him.

Moses was trained and equip from as low as a peasant to a king of his age and knows all that it takes to run a country, so he was well trained to leads God’s people as God direct him.

Moses was in the service of God from he was three months old until he was one hundred and twenty years old when he died.

God wrote and gave to him all that mankind would ever need to draw them back into fellowship with him because of his love for mankind, but they rejected it, and called it the law of Moses.

Would God send another child to show mankind how much He love them and want to be with them? Yes.

Zechariah the priest and his wife Elizabeth were long passed the age of child bearing, but on one occasion while he was ministering in the temple to the people, he was visited by an angel from God with a message that he and his wife was about to have a child, and that he should name the child John.

He doubted all this, and for this reason he was told that he would become dumb until the child is born, and so it was, he regain his speech after the birth of the child, when he said that his name shall be called John.

Who was this child born to this old couple? He was later known as John the Baptist, the forerunner of our Lord

Christ the redeemer for whom the descendants of Abraham long waited for, the child John became the messenger of God with the story that a savior, redeemer of God has come to earth to redeem mankind of their sins and show them the way to eternal life.

God is everything to everyone and desires that all should turn to him and be saved as they follow the teachings of our redeemer Christ Jesus. He is the only hope for mankind to regain what has been lost because of our disobedience to the commands of God.

Can we see the importance of God using children in his salvation plan for mankind?
