Message for November 16, 2024: Why is truth important to God?

Message topic: Why is truth important to God?

Scripture: John 14: 1-7

Today we are going to be reflecting on one of the many    words we can remember that our parents always repeat to us many times which we could not understand because our vocabulary was not yet developed in our tender age: for that reason, often little attention was given to many of the words they would say to us, they would often ask after listening to what we say, are you telling the truth?

Today many of us who was asked, are you telling the truth by the adults around us, has come to realize that they did not truly understand what truth really is: so, let us stop and ask ourselves, what is truth, and how is truth defined and is demonstrated? (The Stanford encyclopedia of philosophy define truth this way.)

Truth is one of the central subjects in philosophy. It is also one of the largest. Truth has been a topic of discussion in its own right for thousands of years. Moreover, a huge variety of issues in philosophy relate to truth, either by relying on things about truth, or implying things about truth.

Our interest is what does the Bible has to say or tells us about truth: a scriptural understanding of truth encompasses more than simple honesty. The bible reveals truth as a moral concept rooted in God’s character to be found in many scripture text such as (Psalm 43: 3; 25:, 5: 26: 3:, 86: 11, and Isaiah 65: 16.) He is the God of truth (Isaiah 65: 16: and his truthfulness embraces His steadfastness, trustworthiness, and eternal faithfulness (Psalm 117:2).

Most commonly, discussions of truth have to do with speaking the truth as in psalm 15: 2; which says, he that walketh uprightly and worketh righteousness, and speak the truth in his heart. (Jeremiah 9: 3, tells us that God never lies, also Titus 1:2:

The Bible says that God is not only truthful, but He Himself is the essence of truth, God is not a man, so He does not lie, He is not human, so he does not change his mind, has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?  God’s words endure forever, I am the Lord and I change not.

I hope that I am not saying anything that you have never heard and do not understand, these should be refreshing words to our hearts and mind.

We the children of God, who is the other of truth, Has told us that he desire truth from us, so that his truth can be seen both in our words and actions. God is love and truth and all of His love and truth was displayed through Jesus when He was sent to earth as the redeemer to restore mankind to the fellowship which he had with God before he was put out of Eden.

The mission of restoration of mankind to God was finished, and God said this about Jesus, this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased, as Jesus had given to mankind all the ability which he displayed so they could learn how to love, and know that is truth, that comes from God himself.

At the assentation of Jesus, He left all His attributes to mankind so that they will have the knowledge of what is truth and love for God and his fellow men as Jesus demonstrated while He lived among us as a man.

The most important thing which mankind needs before they can put their trust in anything or anyone, is trust and confidence, so who are we going to ask the question what is truth?

God demonstrates that He is truth in the faithfulness and dependability of His works, actions, and dealings: God is not a man, so He does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? has he ever promised and not carried it through?

Goc’s word holds true, and we can trust everything He does (Psalm 33: 4) He is completely reliable (Psalm 31: 15) the Lord is a rock-solid, a trustworthy foundation for life because He is entirely reliable and consistent in His character.

We began by asking the question, what is truth: we will find the answer in John (14:6) when Jesus said to his disciples as we are, I am the way, I am the truth, and I the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.  Can we accept that answer? Listen to (John 10: 9) I am the door no one can enter the paradise of God the father except by Me. Are you planning to enter God’s paradise?
